Job Title:  R&D Technician

Reports to:  R&D Manager

 

MAIN OBJECTIVES

Participate in new product introductions and product changes by creating samples to be used as prototypes.  Ensure that Design and Development outputs are accurate and communicated for the specific manufacturing process required. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Create or modify new products and specials based on previous concepts or new sketches. 

Create and maintain BOM for new products, specials, and product changes.

Work with CAD Technicians to create drawings of new and revised parts.

Work with Pattern Layout Technicians to ensure that sewing and cutting patterns work with the appropriate design of the product.

Create new design patterns to be used in new market models.

Keep product designs within cost limitation.

Work with the Quality Department to create new photo based work instructions.

Train manufacturing personnel on the constructions of new market models and product changes.

Review and complete ECR’s as necessary.

Ensure that all sourced components are received and meet all requirements.

Maintains R&D forms in the Design and Development Packet to comply with all Knu9000, and CFR Title 21 requirements.

All other duties as assigned.

  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Effective problem solving and decision making skills
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills
  • Understands variety of manufacturing processes including, frame assembly, pad up, upholstery, final assembly, and final inspection 
  • Requires learning and operating within the AS400
  • Must be able to read blueprints and CAD drawings
  • Ability to work independently as well as dealing with multiple projects
  • Ability to meet project deadlines
  • Willingness to learn
  • Prefer 3 to 5 years of similar experience
